Russian vessels banned from Norwegian ports

The ban applies to all vessels flying the Russian flag, with the exception of fishing vessels.

Norway has endorsed and incorporated into Norwegian law all restrictive measures against Russia adopted by the EU up to and including 15 March 2022. The measures of the EU’s fifth package of sanctions have already entered into force in Norway.

The Government has previously decided to work towards implementing restrictions on port access and road traffic. On Friday 29 April, the ban on Russian-flagged vessels from Norwegian ports was adopted.

The ban will include ships of more than 500 gross tonnage engaged on international voyages and used for commercial purposes, as well as yachts and pleasure craft or recreational craft as further defined in the Regulations.

Fishing vessels are not covered by the ban.
