The Ship Energy Summit 2022 will be held from the 27th to the 29th April and will deal with subjects such as the use of Liquefied Natural Gas, the electrification of ports, wind technology or the development of alternative fuels such as hydrogen or ammonia

The event, which has the collaboration of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), will bring together more than thirty experts from the energy and port sectors

Over the next few days, the Port of Valencia will become the centre of ideas on the energy transition and the decarbonisation of international maritime transport with the Ship Energy Summit 2022. The event will bring together more than 30 experts from the energy and port sectors to discuss new developments and the development of innovative proposals in the field of sustainability and the fight against climate change.

The meeting will explain the options in terms of fuels and technologies that will enable maritime transport to achieve the greenhouse gas emission reduction targets of the International Maritime Organisation, a United Nations agency, for 2030 and 2050. The event will put a particular focus on innovative developments taking place in the Mediterranean Arc.

The day will examine energy and innovation developments in maritime transport projects from their inception to the commercialisation phase. It will address the use of alternative fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia, biofuels or methanol; the regulatory landscape towards the decarbonisation of the sector, emissions rights and business and intersectoral collaboration for the acceleration of projects; electrification in the port environment and the supply of energy on land for ships at berth; and the development of innovation in areas such as the motorisation of ships, energy storage systems or wind technology.

In addition, the Ship Energy Summit will feature a guided tour of the Port of Valencia to learn about its green initiatives and will also offer delegates the opportunity to attend training courses on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunkering and the implications of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors for shipping companies and the wider maritime community.

The Ship Energy Summit will be opened by the director general of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), Francesc Sánchez, who will explain the progress made by the Valencian port in its goal of Valenciaport 2030, zero emissions. The new electrical substation, green hydrogen projects, sustainable infrastructures, the commitment to the railway or the photovoltaic and solar installation projects will be some of the topics to be explained by the head of the PAV.
