A New Tool for Global Service Provider Network Solutions

FlexEnterprise allows a business to expand its reach to virtually anywhere, enabling connection to 100% of an organization’s locations without the need to commit to service across multiple regions.

The rise of connect-from-anywhere expectations and continued growth in enterprise digital transformation initiatives are twin factors driving the need for flexible network solutions to connect every location, person, device, and machine across an organization.

And there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Wired and wireless technologies are often combined to connect users to the internet, the cloud, and private networks, while the various attributes of SD-WAN and SASE solutions contribute performance, security, and reliability features regardless of the underlying network technologies.

Recently, one of Intelsat’s global service provider customers added FlexEnterprise to the toolbox of connectivity solutions they use to deliver reliable connectivity to enterprise and government customers. FlexEnterprise leverages the world’s largest and most advanced satellite fleet and infrastructure to offer solution-provider-friendly, per-site connectivity service without the need to manage or commit to wholesale satellite capacity. The result? Complete global access for enterprise SD-WAN service.

While already delivering solutions via their own global fiber network and SD-WAN services, our customer saw FlexEnterprise could:

  • Expand their reach to virtually anywhere a globally distributed customer might be doing business, allowing them to connect 100% of an organization’s locations without the need to commit to service across multiple regions
  • Enable new sites to be brought up quickly, regardless of the state of local telecom infrastructure and without the time and potential costs of a traditional network buildout
  • Add an additional layer of network resiliency and diversity that would be unaffected by local and regional network outages

“There are many global telcos who are Intelsat customers today and our services are often managed by a satellite-focused operations group, using wholesale capacity to enable very high-throughput trunking and network backhaul services,” says Brian Jakins, general manager, vice president of Networks, Intelsat. “With FlexEnterprise packaged service, they now have a new option that can be used by commercial and technical design teams to respond rapidly to opportunities and easily adapt services to the throughput and traffic volume needs of end-user sites across industries and applications. The ability to easily integrate Flex into hybrid cloud and WAN topologies really expands the range of solutions that are relevant to global telco and network organizations like this.”

Customers today use the Flex network to deliver connectivity to users across sectors including banking, retail, civil government, embassy connectivity, oil/gas & mining, and non-governmental organizations.
