The railway service to Northern Europe grew significantly in 2021 and underlines Trieste as a strategic Hub for intermodal transport. From 2018 to 2020, the intermodal units handled in Trieste registered an increase of 56%.

Considering only the last year, the handlings of intermodal units by Samer Seaports have grown by 34%.

This is the result of an efficient and eco-sustainable policy, much appreciated by our customers, which enable the transport by train of about 50% of units arriving in Trieste by sea.

Considering the transport of units from Trieste to Cologne, we can achieve an average of 75% reduction of CO2 emissions by choosing transportation via train rather than road.
