Tufton and Anemoi are delighted to have been awarded the prestigious ‘Wind Propulsion Innovation Award for developers of innovative technology and installations’ for the installation of Anemoi Rotor Sails on Tufton’s TR Lady. The awards were announced at COP26 and streamed live from Glasgow as part of the Malin Spotlight series.
TR Lady is a Kamsarmax bulker, built in 2017 by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, and owned in a Tufton-managed Fund. Rotor Sails harness the renewable power of the wind to provide additional forward thrust and deliver significant fuel and emission savings to the TR Lady. The expected annual reduction in fuel consumption from the installation is above 10%. This equates to fuel savings of c.600 tonnes per annum and reduction in CO2 emissions of c.1,900 tonnes per annum.
