The CMA CGM Group, a world leader in shipping and logistics, HEC Paris and the HEC Foundation established an ambitious partnership on December 21, 2021 in Beirut, Lebanon. The partnership is the largest support program ever established internationally benefiting future HEC Paris students originally from Lebanon. Through their backing, the CMA CGM Group and HEC Paris intend to broaden the access of Lebanon’s leading talents to one of the world’s most prestigious teaching institutions. As a force uniting France and Lebanon, the CMA CGM Group is again demonstrating its commitment to the development of Lebanon and of its talents.

CMA CGM Excellence Fund: an ambitious program built for the long term 
The CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Lebanon will cover a portion of the tuition fees and living expenses of Lebanese students that will be selected on the basis of different criteria, including academic excellence and socio-economic background. The application process to HEC Paris’ Grande Ecole, specialized Masters and MBA programs will take place between January and June for the2022-2023 academic year.

Each year, the partnership will provide financial support to 20 high-potential students who would otherwise not be able to afford a first-class international education. The project aims to train the next generation of Lebanese managers, who, once they have qualified in France, will be able to return to their homeland and join the ranks of leading international groups, such as CMA CGM Group. Enriched by their international experience, they will then be able to play a role in developing their country.

This flagship program aligns perfectly with the general interest and social impact goals that lie at the heart of HEC Paris’ mission of serving the common good. HEC Paris, with its community of over 500 alumni in Lebanon, has always cultivated strong ties with the country and is very keen to show its support. Being accessible to all talented individuals, irrespective of their geographical origin, social background or financial means is one of its key aspirations.
Education for all: a core pillar of the CMA CGM Group in Lebanon
The CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Lebanon program launched in partnership with HEC and the HEC Foundation builds on CMA CGM Group’s commitment to developing Lebanon and championing educational success. CMA CGM has also agreed to pay the 2021-22 school fees of 2,600 primary and secondary school pupils across Lebanon, as well as the university fees of students studying at various renowned Lebanese institutions. This commitment to educating young people represents CMA CGM Foundation’s main objective.
