Katy Womersley confirmed as new Group Operations Director of Stream Marine Training Group

Katy Womersley, Group Operations Director, SMT

Stream Marine Training Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Katy Womersley as the Group Operations Director. Katy will take over from Colin McMurray, who is joining Forth Valley College as a director in January 2022.

Katy was a deck officer before coming ashore in 2005 to join Clyde Marine Training (CMT) as an STCW instructor. Having secured a role in cadet training based on her industry experience and talent, Katy later became general manager at CMT, working with Colin to grow the business. She then moved to Stream Marine Careers in 2020.

Katy has been involved in all areas of the shipping industry, particularly as a champion of the women in maritime movement.

“I am delighted to be taking the helm at Stream Marine Training, having gained invaluable experience over the last 16 years in a series of roles,” Katy said.

“We have made tremendous progress in the last 18 months, despite the COVID restrictions, and weathered the storm by adapting to new methods of training. With several recent client wins and new industry projects on the verge of being launched, our success will continue into 2022.”

Martin White, CEO of the Stream Group, has welcomed the appointment. “It’s fantastic to have someone as talented as Katy in the company. Her experience and network in the industry is exceptional and she will continue to build on the progress made by the team over the last 18 months.

“I would also like to thank Colin for his efforts over what has been the most challenging time for the business. I am also delighted that he has agreed to remain with the company in an advisory position to the board.”
