The Hong Kong Marine Department presented awards to a number of shipping companies under COSCO SHIPPING in recognition of their commitment to excellence in the pursuit of quality registered ships in Hong Kong over the past year, as well as commending their crews for their heroic acts in rescuing ships at sea.

COSCO SHIPPING was honored as the shipowner with the highest gross tonnage on the Hong Kong Shipping Register by end 2020. COSCO Shipping Bulk, COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers, and COSCO Shanghai were presented the Outstanding Performance Award in Port State Control Inspection for the year of 2020.

This is the fifth consecutive year since 2017 that COSCO SHIPPING has won the annual award as the shipowner with the highest gross tonnage on the Hong Kong Shipping Register. At present, COSCO SHIPPING has registered vessels with more than 18,538,700 gross tonnages on the Hong Kong Shipping Register. It has taken practical actions to promote the economic prosperity of Hong Kong, taking the lead to register most of its new ships in Hong Kong to greatly increase the proportion of its Hong Kong-registered fleet, as a part of its outstanding contributions to maintaining the position of Hong Kong as an international shipping center.
