Echandia wins E-Prize, Sweden’s largest award for climate innovation

The 16th of November, Echandia was awarded with the 2021 E-Prize, Sweden’s most prestigious award for climate innovation: “With the goal to do for shipping what Tesla done to cars – a revolution in electrification, Echandias unique and powerful battery technology is on the path to minimize CO2 emissions in the maritime world.” was the jury’s motivation.

E-prize, which this year has been arranged for 13 consecutive years, together with the energy giant E.On, and the magazine Aktuell Hållbarhet and Sweden’s largest business daily, Dagens industri, is one of Sweden’s largest and most prestigious awards for companies operating in energy and climate change.

The award seeks to encourage the development of Swedish companies that contribute, innovate, and enable an energy and climate transition.

Echandia was one of three finalists in the category, Sustainable Transport. The other companies in the category were the pleasure boat manufacturer Candela and Chargenode, which make smart charging stations for cars. On the 16th of November, Echandia was named the winner with the motivation:

“With the goal to do for shipping what Tesla done to cars – a revolution in electrification, Echandias unique and powerful battery technology is on the path to minimize CO2 emissions in the maritime world.”

Magnus Eriksson, CEO, Echandia, comments:

“I am both proud and grateful for this award. It strengthens us in our continued work with innovation and technological development towards an electrified and emission-free global fleet. We are happy that what we do captures the interest of the outside world and see it as proof that we are on the right track.”

Marc Hoffmann, CEO of E.ON Sweden, comments:

“E-Prize stimulates innovations within the energy sector, that are absolutely necessary to drive change and manage the energy transition. This year’s winners really show the innovative power that exists around the country. We at E.ON are proud to highlight the winners and their innovations.”
