AYRO obtains the support of the EMFF and launches the WINNEW project

AYRO, an industrial French start-up company that designs and delivers wind propulsion hybrid systems for maritime transport, has successfully obtained a grant from the European EMFF BEW 2020 fund enabling AYRO to pursue its project named WINNEW.

WINNEW consists in speeding up the development of the Oceanwings® 363 and further enhance the technology throughout tests and validation processes. It will also allow the pre-industrialization of the Oceanwings® and the monitoring of their performance. Furthermore, it will aim at supporting the marketing and commercialization of AYRO’s range of products.

The Oceanwings® 363, a unique patented wingsail designed for commercial ships with outstanding performance, is safe and fully automated. This system aims at supporting the reduction of fuel consumption and carbon emission within the maritime transportation.
The first four Oceanwings® 363 will be manufactured and delivered at the end of 2022 on Canopée, a 121 m long roll-on, roll-off vessel under construction and chartered by ArianeGroup

This WINNEW project, funded up to 2.36 million EUR, is planned to end in November 2023.
The funding comes from Blue Economy Window, an EU program funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) through the Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).
