Industry buzz will fuel unique “après ski” atmosphere at Nor-Shipping 2022

Nor-Shipping organisers have revealed that industry excitement is growing ahead of the January 2022 event, and, especially, the opportunity to socialise as a single, international business community again. In particular, the After Work at Aker Brygge programme is proving to be a “much anticipated highlight”, says Knut Erik Dahle, Nor-Shipping Head of Conference and Event.

Connecting to people power

“Nor-Shipping 2022 will be the first full-scale international event focusing on the entire spectrum of maritime and ocean industry businesses since the pandemic began,” he comments. “That provides a fantastic platform for exhibiting the very latest innovations and sharing knowledge, but the socialising, networking and ‘community’ aspect of the occasion is, in many respects, equally or even more important.

“What we’re hearing from our many stakeholders, exhibitors and partners is that they can’t wait to meet up again, re-establish contacts and build new networks. And often that’s much easier over a drink, or a chat, in an informal, fun and relaxed atmosphere. That’s why our After Work offering seems to be commanding so much attention right now.”

Optimal experience

Nor-Shipping 2022, taking place 10-13 January, is the first such event that will use the lively, prestigious and central waterside location of Aker Brygge as its networking hub. This is arguably ‘the place to be’ in Oslo’s glittering social scene, with an array of popular bars, restaurants and exclusive venues set aside for the use of Nor-Shipping supporters and visitors.

Of the up to 50,000 participants expected – with around 900 companies exhibiting in the 22,500 sq m complex in Lillestrøm – many will utilise Aker Brygge as their natural “après ski” hotspot, says Dahle, referencing that this is the first ever winter Nor-Shipping. The fact that the venues are concentrated in a relatively small (and easily accessible) city centre area will maximise participation, creating an inclusive, community atmosphere for optimal networking.

Industry celebration

“Anyone familiar with Oslo will understand what an exciting location this is, giving visitors a cosy, intimate ‘village centre’ where they can enjoy a unique winter atmosphere and make new friends and contacts,” he notes. “We have more events and parties planned than ever before, ensuring there’s something for everyone. This will be a real celebration of our industry, and a great place to ‘bump into’ the decision makers that can make a difference to your organisation. I know I’m not alone when I say I can’t wait. See you at Aker Brygge!”

Key events currently confirmed include a special ‘opening party’, held in partnership with DnB and DNV on Monday 10 January, and the Nor-Shipping Party, hosted in conjunction with Wartsila, on Wednesday 12 January. Nor-Shipping 2022 will feature six themed exhibition halls at the Norges Varemesse facility in Lillestrøm, Norway. A range of knowledge sharing and networking activities – including the high-profile Ocean Leadership Conference – take place across the week. The theme of this Nor-Shipping is taking positive business #ACTION within the ocean space; creating both commercial value and sustainable solutions.
