Ericsson is powering the 5G network through Ericsson Radio System products and solutions, including Ericsson Spectrum Sharing The 5G services will provide Indosat Ooredoo’s subscriber customers with access to enhanced mobile broadband andwill help to accelerate Jakarta’s digital transformation towards realizing its smart city vision.

The high speeds, low latency and large data-handling capabilities of the technology will also help to drive Industry 4.0 opportunities for Indosat Ooredoo’s enterprise, industry and public sector customers by enabling a wide range of unique next-gen use cases and driving innovation.

The city’s manufacturing industry, public services and healthcare sector are among the sectors set to benefit from 5G.

Following the launch of 5G in Jakarta, Indosat Ooredoo plans to extend the commercial rollout of 5G services to other major cities in Indonesia, including Surabaya and Makassar, where there is high consumer demand for data services.

5G use case examples

Advanced 5G use cases include connected cars and in-car entertainment services, smart surveillance technologies such as drones and smart CCTV, smart electricity that automatically detects faults in household circuits, healthcare applications that involve remote monitoring and entertainment applications such as mobile HD video, 360 video and virtual reality

Ericsson currently has 145 commercial 5G agreements and contracts with unique communications service providers globally, including 95 live commercial 5G networks.

Ooredoo Group and Ericsson signed a five-year strategic 5G agreement earlier this year covering all 10 of the Group’s operating companies, including Indonesia.
