Smartgyro implements ambitious expansion plan with personnel appointments and new headquarters

Marine gyro stabilization technology company Smartgyro reinforces internal team structure in engineering, marketing and finance, and moves to larger facilities in La Spezia

Smartgyro S.r.l. has announced a significant expansion of its business with the appointment of key personnel and a move to new headquarters in La Spezia, Italy.

With additional product launches in the pipeline to further enhance its range of unique gyroscopic stabilizers, Smartgyro has revealed the full strengthened team structure as the company targets a rapid growth in production and sales over the coming months.

The Smartgyro engineering department is reinforced with the addition of Felice Grandi, Senior Mechanical Engineer, and Alessandro Breschi, Senior Software Engineer. Elisa Parri joins in the finance department.

Meanwhile, Sander Gesink, who has managed the global marketing for YANMAR Marine International (YMI) for the past four years, has been appointed as Smartgyro’s Marketing Director to focus on building the market presence and brand awareness. He will be supported by another new arrival, Elena Ratti, who comes in to fill a further role created in the marketing department.

In the sales department, experienced VETUS International Sales Manager Pieter Feenstra has moved across to Smartgyro as Global Sales Director for North Europe, APAC and America, augmenting a strong team which also includes founding company member Carlo Gazerro.

With the move to a new base at the Italy location which incorporates larger areas for assembly and testing as well as more general office space, Smartgyro is well positioned to execute its ambitious strategy to become one of the world’s leading stabilization suppliers.

Marcel Borsboom, Smartgyro CEO, said: “We are very excited to announce the details of the expanded Smartgyro team which now contains an incredible amount of talent and industry experience. Our engineering department is fully capable of developing our range for the future and the marketing team led by Sander will focus on the task of communicating the benefits and features of our gyro stabilizers to the boating community, our partners and customers. We are confident that we have developed an innovative and advanced solution that has exceptional advantages for boat builders and boat owners. In fact, we are already receiving significant interest and very positive feedback from OEMs who recognize the outstanding innovations in our products. With the company now based at the new facilities in La Spezia, Smartgyro has a solid foundation in place and will come into its own as a powerful industry force.”

Smartgyro continues to strengthen its worldwide dealer network, with recent confirmation of new partnerships with Nautor’s Swan Global Service in Spain, Golden Arrow Marine in the UK and Pacific Maritime Services in Australia, and more collaborations in discussion.

With installations already underway, the Smartgyro range, which currently consists of the SG40 and SG80 models, will soon be expanded with gyro stabilizers for smaller boats. Featuring a modular mechanical design, the compact Smartgyro stabilizers can be assembled directly inside the boat and serviced while onboard, minimizing time spent on maintenance, creating new design opportunities for builders and increasing the potential for installation in vessels with small access spaces. The SG range also features design innovations within the control electronics, braking system, cooling system and vacuum enclosure to maximize roll reduction, performance and efficiency.

Smartgyro is backed by strategic partner YANMAR Group and its companies, including VETUSMaxwell and Flexofold.
