In 2010, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) designated June 25th of each year as the International Day of the Seafarer to give thanks to seafarers for their contribution to the international trade and the world economy, often at great personal cost to themselves and their families. This day is included in the United Nation’s list of observances. The purpose of the day is to give thanks to seafarers for their contribution to the world economy and the civil society and for the risks and personal costs they bear whilst working at sea.
I am sure you will all agree that their contribution to our economy and society as a whole is invaluable!
