State of the art, new fully Managed Services facility provides training, tech development and secure facilities for government departments

Inmarsat, the world leader in global, mobile satellite communications today opened the company’s new, purpose built C$1 million facility in Ottawa, Canada. The world-class building represents a significant further commitment by the company to Canada and has been designed to meet the needs of the Canadian Armed Forces and to deliver a full Managed Service experience, conveniently located for Government clients in the national capital.

Gill Fortin, Director, Canada at Inmarsat Global Government said: “The whole Inmarsat team has worked together through the very challenging period of Covid-19 and related restrictions to help deliver this new facility to support our Canadian government clients. By building this bespoke Managed Services office in Ottawa, Inmarsat continues to show how importantly we view our investment in support of our Canadian customers for the long-term.”

An event to open this facility officially took place earlier today, carried out virtually due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions. Guests were able to experience the building itself via high-tech, 3D tours and hear from the Inmarsat Ottawa team. Inmarsat Global Government President, Todd McDonell also presented a scenario-based simulation of how Inmarsat’s Virtual Satellite Management System can give operational departments unprecedented control over their satellite communications services.

Presentations from the team covered the various innovative approaches provided on the site for military and operational training, laboratory testing of new technologies and techniques and secure warehousing of equipment.

Todd McDonell, President Inmarsat Global Government, said: “Inmarsat has supported the Canadian government and in particular the Canadian Armed Forces for more than 20 years. This long-term partnership is due to the true spirit of collaboration from both organisations. This new facility in Ottawa, and the investment from Inmarsat that it represents, demonstrates the bright, shared future that we envision with our Canadian customers. All of us at Inmarsat look forward to continuing to innovate and deliver for the nation and the brave men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces.”
