Speakers: 
Marcie Merksamer,  Vice President, EnviroManagement, Inc.
Trained as an environmental biologist, Marcie has focused on aquatic invasive species and ballast water topics for 20 years. She assists shipowners with regulatory compliance and guides ballast water treatment technology manufacturers through US and international approvals. A primary goal in her work is to facilitate productive working relationships between scientists, technology developers, industry and regulatory stakeholders. Marcie is Vice President of EnviroManagement, Inc., an environmental services / consulting company she co-founded in 2002. As a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), she attends IMO meetings as an IMarEST delegate and is Co-Chair of the Ballast Water Special Interest Group. Marcie is also the Secretary General for the Ballastwater Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (BEMA).
Steve Candito, CEO, Ecochlor
Steve has more than 30 years’ of experience in the maritime industry providing advisory services including strategic planning, regulatory compliance and crisis management to the maritime and environmental communities. Steve was previously an attorney specializing in maritime litigation and environmental law. He also served as a marine engineer aboard Exxon USA’s domestic tanker fleet. Steve graduated from Hofstra University School of Law and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He is a co-founder of Ballastwater Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (BEMA) and currently sits on the Board of Directors.
Andrew Marshall, VP of Business Development, Ecochlor

With more than 30 years’ experience in developing and launching emerging technologies in the maritime industry, Andrew is a seasoned executive with a proven track record of international business development. He served as the owner of Marshall Global Consulting Ltd., the CEO of Coldharbour Marine, and the COO of Spectral Fusion Technologies. He attended the University of the West of England for law and was the Secretary on the Board of Directors of the then newly formed Ballastwater Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (BEMA). Andrew is an elected Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).

Andreas Zontanos, Founder – Business and Planning Manager, Argo Navis Marine Consulting & Engineering
Andreas Zontanos is one of the founders of Argo Navis and holds a diploma of the school of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of NTUA, and a M.Sc. Degree in Precision Engineering Metrology from Cranfield University, Cranfield, UK. Before establishing Argo Navis, he worked in two Greek ship management companies as junior and later senior superintendent engineer. Andreas led on-site newbuilding supervision teams in two Greek-owned bulk carrier newbuilding projects in Croatia and China. Andreas also worked as an independent engineer conducting surveys and supervising conversions and repairs.
