Siemens Gamesa and ZITON sign contract for Meerwind blade upgrade campaign

ZITON has been selected to overhaul and upgrade all blades at the German Meerwind site. The campaign is in continuation of a similar project at West of Duddon Sands so as to build on lessons learned and retain experienced staff. This is in line with ZITON’s strategic focus on blade work and confirms the necessity for such services.

The site owner WindMW have contracted Siemens Gamesa who in turn has contracted ZITON on turnkey terms for the works. SGRE will be overseeing quality and safety during execution.

The engaged vessel spread will include the service jack-up WIND SERVER and a Service Operation Vessel (SOV) thereby optimizing working windows for the offshore technicians. All technicians both offshore and onshore will be contracted by ZITON.

Preparations are well underway and the campaign will kick off in the near future and is expected to have a duration of 9-12 months weather depending.

“We see this continuation with Siemens Gamesa as confirmation of our ability to deliver quality in a safe and dependable way and are looking forward to working with a new client under the Siemens Gamesa canopy,” says ZITON CEO Thorsten Jalk.
