What’s new with HELMEPA Junior

Despite the difficulties in the operation of school units throughout Greece due to the pandemic, the interest of young members of HELMEPA Junior and their teachers to participate in the activities of the program still remains lively.
A prime example is the Drawing Contest with the title “People and marine life, allies for Planet Earth”, in which to date 50 group works of 600 children from 22 Primary Schools and Kindergartens throughout Greece have been submitted. Due to the keen interest for participation in the Contest, the submission of projects will be extended until Wednesday, March 31st 2021, while the application for registration in the “HELMEPA Junior” program remains open for the same period.
The closure of our environmental exhibitions in Athens due to Covid-19 did not discourage us. Thus, with the help of technology, we “visited” the e-classroom of the Kindergarten of Vagia in Viotia, and talked to the kids about the importance of the marine environment and the need to protect it. Such online “visits” have been planned with students and teachers of other schools and we look forward to similar requests from other schools!
Additionally, our new Corporate Supporter THALASSA FOUNDATION is promoting the operation of the “HELMEPA Junior” program in the Primary Schools of the Sporades islands, a particularly sensitive area that is now the largest national marine park in Europe.
