Thome Group wins Mission to Seafarers Innovation Award

The Thome Group is delighted to announce that it has won the Mission to Seafarers Innovation award which was presented to the company that could demonstrate an innovative programme which benefitted seafarers’ welfare.

Thome’s entry outlined an employee benefit programme called the TSM Privilege Card. Believed to be the first of its kind in the maritime industry, the card gives Thome employees special rates and discount packages ranging from car and housing loans, to healthcare plans, mobile phone deals and different insurance policies.

It also has exclusive deals for staff and their families when booking hotel rooms, eating out at selected restaurants or buying household appliances and can also be used as a cashless transportation card.

With the number of exclusive deals and rates being increased all the time, the TSM Privilege Card was deemed by the judges to be a really innovative programme which directly helped seafarers and their families with major financial purchases.

Accepting the award on behalf of the Thome Group, Simon Frank, the Group’s CHRO said:

“I am so pleased that the Mission to Seafarers has recognised this programme as the Thome Group regards the safety and welfare of its seafarers and their families as its highest priority which is why it continually looks for ways to help and support them.. As we continue to innovate, we will soon be introducing the TSM Privilege E-Card for a safer and more convenient transaction method for all our seafarers.”

“Thome recognises that helping its employees and their families in this way will help improve their quality of life and to date we have had more than 4,400 staff members who have signed up to the scheme.”
