FIS LIVE App wins Energy Risk Asia Awards 2020 Innovation of the Year

Unique tool recognised for live pricing of dry bulk freight and commodity markets, together with charting features, news and commentary

FIS will now begin expanding registration to an audience beyond the firm’s existing client base. Europe and the US combined contribute about half of the users, with Asia – primarily Singapore – accounting for most of the rest.

“This may be the first time physical traders have been offered a tool like this – one that offers live pricing and also charting features as well as news and commentary,” agrees Tom Fox-Hughes, director of Asia at FIS. “It is easy to access live pricing for the iron ore and oil markets but that is not the case for most of the other products we cover without contacting a broker.”

FIS clients have been quick to praise FIS LIVE with endorsements from Caravel, Swiss Marine and Torvald Klaveness among the enthusiastic users. Financial participants have embraced it too, with commodity and freight traders at algorithmic funds using the App’s prices and reports daily.

Uptake has been strong among physical market participants, such as shipping firms or metals traders, providing them with unique and up to date insights to their specific markets.

“Fast and accurate real-time pricing for dry bulk commodities and freight has not typically been easy to come by in our markets and we believe this is the first time anyone has put together live pricing of this complex of products in the same place,” says FIS Head of Business Development Kerry Deal.

Launched in May 2020, FIS Live combines live pricing with news and technical analysis across the dry freight, iron ore, fuel oil, coking coal, steel/scrap and fertiliser markets and has won high praise from clients.

Accessible in both desktop and mobile format, FIS LIVE has quickly gained traction in the market with hundreds of FIS’ daily trading clients registered to use the service.

London and Singapore, 18 November 2020. Freight Investor Services has won Innovation of the Year in the Energy Risk Asia Awards for its unique FIS LIVE mobile pricing tool.
