Fincantieri won first prize for Italy, in the Global Companies category, of the Most Innovative Knowledge Enterprise (MIKE) Award, one of most prestigious awards in the field of innovative enterprise. Representing Italy, the Group will participate in the global phase in London together with the other awarded companies.

Fincantieri was acknowledged for its ability to make strategic company decisions looking to the future and for having a vision statement that is strongly oriented towards tackling sustainability and innovation-related challenges. Indeed, the Group views these elements as the key to maintaining a world leading position in all the different sectors making up the high added-value naval engineering industry. For this reason it is committed in fighting the effects of climate change and in reducing emissions into the sea and the atmosphere.

Held for the first time in 1998 in London, the MIKE Award aims at putting together the Academia and the business world, in an effort to identify the best management practices set in place to cultivate and convert enterprise knowledge into innovation. Over the years, renowned companies acknowledged worldwide for being leaders in the field of innovation, such as Google and Microsoft, have joined and won this prestigious award.

The award is given first at national level, distinguishing between SMEs and Global Companies. The winners of the national level award are then invited to take part in the annual forum and in the global award-giving ceremony. The award is given after a scientific committee made up of professors coming from 14 different countries assesses the applicant companies.
