Captain’s Table Returns in Hong Kong

Young Professionals in Shipping Network (Hong Kong) launches a global startup competition for the maritime and logistics industry.

YPSN in Hong Kong is a similar organisation to YoungShip International. They were founded 10 years ago and now have 1000 members in Hong Kong and China.

YPSN have been monitoring the digital and technical transformation in our industry brought about through regulation, the environment and the need to create a sustainable future for the industry. Last year, they launched The Captain’s Table, which is a startup pitch competition for the maritime and logistics industry. They had 42 entries from 14 different countries and flew 6 finalists to Hong Kong to pitch in front of 6 “Captains of Industry” for a chance to win cash prizes, mentorship opportunities, POC’s with companies, media coverage and legal and business support.

This year they are launching again but of course the format will be slightly different as unfortunately bringing the finalists to Hong Kong is unlikely, pending COVID-19 restrictions, but that being said they have strengthened the network and ecosystem of support they can offer the startups this year. YPSN are also working on specific problem statements from the industry to be set as challenges. There is a 2 day boot-camp as well which was very popular last year and is also being expanded over a 4 week period.

YSPN, like YoungShip International really want to make a tangible difference to our industry and feel we can use the strength of our network to support startups with solutions for our industry.

If you have any specific questions please contract YPSN,  most info is on the website or in their press release. www.captainstable.hk
