Svelvik-Verket in Drammensfjorden is Norway’s shortest car-ferry route – with its 5 minutes crossing time – and will be operated by Bastø Fosen from January 2022.
The narrow Svelvik strait – some 200 m wide and only 10 m deep – causes strong tidal current, making maneuverability for passing vessels quite challenging, also for the Svelvik-Verket ferry route.
The 54 m double-ended car- and passenger ferry with DNV-GL Ice class is designed by Norwegian Ship Design (TNSDC). The ferry design NSD 30CF has a capacity of 30 cars and 99 passengers, and it is currently under construction at Sefine Shipyard in Turkey.
Teknotherm HVAC systems include special designed central heating/cooling system, simultaneously utilizing both hot- and cold side of the heat pumps.
For further energy reduction, the passenger saloon is provided with Variable Air Volume (VAV) dampers for on-demand airflow requirements.
