Dubai Maritime City Authority discusses precautionary measures with Dubai Police to ensure safety and security of sea-goers


In line with its continuing efforts to ensure safety and security of sea-goers, the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), has announced plans to adopt innovative methodologies that would enhance marine services and bring happiness to customers. The DMCA highlighted its continued compliance to maritime safety requirements by raising locally applied standards to achieve safe navigation and efficiency in operations within the Dubai’s territorial waters.

The announcement came during the coordination meeting held recently by Dubai Police General with several strategic partners, themed ‘Your Safety is Our Priority’. Participants agreed to implement the set of precautionary measures that will ensure the highest levels of safety, health, and security of sea- goers.
During the coordination meeting led by Major General Pilot Ahmed Mohammed Bin Thani, Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief for Ports Affairs in Dubai Police, the attendees agreed on strengthening the cooperation and coordination in the implementation of ideal preventive measures for the comfort and safety of sea-goers, reiterating their commitment to raise standards in line with the UAE’s commitment to comply with the principles and objectives of the Charter of the United Nations concerning ensuring that everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director of Dubai Maritime City Authority, senior officials from Nakheel and Dubai Holding, and several managers of coastal facilities and marine clubs.Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum discussed the competitive advantages that promote the attractiveness of the marine sector in the UAE, including the strategic location as well as the advanced policies and infrastructure of the country. He also emphasized the importance of working closely with strategic partners from both the government and private sectors to ensure the provision of attractive and safe destinations for tourists.

He said: “The decision to implement and strengthen the preventive and precautionary measures is part of our cooperation efforts with the Dubai Police to maintain the security, safety, and health of sea and beachgoers in Dubai.”

He added: “Committing to maritime safety standards following local and international decisions is our highest priority, in line with our relentless efforts to achieve the objectives of the marine sector strategy in creating a renewable, safe and sustainable marine sector. We will continue to adopt innovation as a strategic approach to develop our marine services in line with sustainable development, in addition to moving ahead with our efforts to strengthen our key partnerships and develop policies and legislation that guarantee the creation of a safe and stimulating environment for maritime leisure tourism and marine investment alike.”
