Chartered flight was initiated by Peter Döhle to fly out of Manila close to 100 seafarers since the Covid 19 lockdown last March

Hope Springs: Filipino Seafarers Flew Out of Manila

After all the challenges and unexpected changes, Filipino seafarers have successfully have left the NAIA Terminal 1 Saturday, June 13, aboard the Condor Air flught DE 8587 bound for Hamburg, Germany, to join their vessel in different ports. The chartered flight is said to be the first deployment of close to 100 seafarers since the Covid 19 lockdown last March, replenishing a depleted crew presence to make these vessels operate safely and thus, restart a global chain that fuels the global economy running. The chartered flight was initiated by Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG , Menzell & Doehle Group, and BTH Business Travel Hamburg in close and thorough coordination with Döhle Seafront Crewing Manila, Inc.

This initiative is also part of heeding the call of the manning agencies for loosened movement protocols for crew changes which is critical in the cargo operations globally.

Döhle Seafront staff spent a grueling week of calling, booking, and organizing the flight for the said seafarers. Döhle Seafront was hands on from extending the offer to other manning agencies, making sure the seafarers are tested, housing the seafarers, orienting them with covid-19 preparedness protocols for travelling, to personally seeing them off.

Seafarers under Doehle Seafront make up only more than half of the flight’s passengers, other crew are from several shipmanagement companies such as Columbia Shipmanagement [CSM] , TORM Shipping Phils., Utkilen AS, Deutsche Afrika-Linien/John T. EssbergerMF Shipping GroupThome Ship Management, ROHQ , Interorient Shipmanagement, Hafnia, and others.
