V.Ships VMS meets the requirements for ISO 45001:2018

According to industry data from the International Labour Organisation, there is an estimated 2.78 million work-related deaths and 374 million non-fatal work-related injuries across the globe each year.
At V.Group, we understand that with the continuing increase in global trade, there are new health and safety challenges that drive the need for improvements to systems already in place. Introduced in 2018, ISO 45001 standard is an international Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) management system standard that allows businesses like ours to create a global benchmark and raise the bar for health and safety in the workplace.
Recently, we commissioned Lloyd’s Register to undertake a gap analysis assessment on the VMS to examine and report on the V.Ships OH&S management system’s readiness for assessment to ISO 45001:2018.
After fine-tuning our safety management system (VMS), Lloyd’s Register has issued a statement confirming that V.Ships VMS meets the procedural requirements of this safety standard.
Dave Nolan, Group HSEQ Department Manager, commented: “Reaching this milestone is critical in our pursuit of raising the bar for occupational health and safety. With the satisfactory completion of this first step, we look forward to proceeding with the formal assessment process to ISO 45001:2018. In doing so, we continue to strive towards a proactive and dynamic culture in which health, safety and quality are embedded within everything we do.”
ISO 45001 introduces a framework that can be used to create a health and safety culture that will continually improve our OH&S performance. The new health and safety standard is a great opportunity for V.Group to align our Occupational Health and Safety management with our strategic direction, making sure it is a key part of everything we do.
