FURUNO introduces first IMO-compliant X-band/S-band Magnetron-free solution for commercial vessels

FURUNO ELECTRIC CO., LTD. (headquartered in Nishinomiya, Japan) is introducing, for the first time, a Magnetron-free chart radar/radar solution in both X-band and S-band configurations, with the addition of two new Solid-State X-band models: FAR-NXT 2xx8 radar and FAR-NXT 3xxx chart radar.

Furuno NXT Solid-State Radars use electronic components to generate microwave pulses and therefore require much less power than magnetron Radars. This technology does not wear out and does not require any particular maintenance, which significantly reduces operating costs. Finally, there is no pre-heating, which makes the start-up time much faster than with a magnetron.
