Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou – Cyprus re-election at the Head of Women International Shipping & Trading Association


Women International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA International), a professional networking organisation for women in the Maritime industry held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 30 October 2019 in Cayman Islands during which Mrs. Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou Board Member of the Chamber and Managing Director of Tototheo Maritime Ltd was re-elected as the President of WISTA International, following a relevant electoral procedure.

The re-election of Mrs, Theodosiou as President, is the outcome of her commitment and hard work during her previous term of office in promoting diversity in the Maritime sector, which resulted in the significant achievement on July 2018 for the for WISTA International to be granted “Consultative Status” by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), giving further voice to the Association and contributing significantly to the work of the IMO.

The Chamber congratulates Mrs. Theodosiou and wishes her every success in the following two years, remaining confident that she will persist in her commitment to enhance the role of women in Shipping and to continue raising even more the profile of Cyprus Shipping on a global scale.

Despina said at the 39th Annual General Meeting of Wista International: “As 2019 draws to a close, I can already look back and see the work we have achieved within WISTA International and the amount of work and energy put by national WISTA associations around the world. We should all be proud of what we have achieved over the years”, said Despina and continued to highlight WISTA’s goals for the future: “In the coming years we must make sure we continue to encourage, help and create opportunities. The goal of diversity is to create a level playing field of opportunity for all”.
