Cyprus Shipping Chamber: Participation at a European scale Maritime Conference

The Cyprus Shipping Industry welcomed in Limassol the Annual Conference of the European Maritime Law Organisation (EMLO), during 17-18 October, 2019. The Cyprus Shipping Chamber together with the Cyprus Union of Shipowners, were the official supporters of this prestigious Shipping event.
Mr. Dieter Rohdenburg, Vice-President of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, addressed the Opening Reception held on 17 October, welcoming the distinguished guests and delegates of the Conference.
The Conference deliberations on 18 October, attracted the interest of the Shipping Industry with high caliber speakers attendance, among others Mr. Sandro Santamato, Head of Unit for Maritime Transport and Logistics, EU Commission, Mr. Claes Berglund, President Elect of the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA) and Mr. Henrik Mørch, Director, Transport, Ports and Other Services, DG COMP, European Commission, discussing matters of new competition rules, environmental challenges and regulatory trends in the Shipping Sector.
The Shipping Chamber was represented in two panel discussions, with Mr. Erwin Derlagen Chairman of the Shipping Chamber’s Marine Committee debating the environmental challenges for Shipping and with Mr. Thomas Kazakos, Director General, discussing the current maritime regulatory issues of Cyprus.
